Mr. Grant was born May 9, 1908, at Charter Oak, Iowa, to Adam and Minnie (Pilate) Grant and was raised in the community. He married Genevieve Black January 10, 1934, at Buck Grove. They farmed in the Ute community until 1944 when they moved to a farm near Anthon. In 1972 they moved into town where he was active as a carpenter. Mr. Grant was a member of the United Methodist Church where he held several offices. He was a 4-H project leader for the Anthon Advancers and was a member of Cerulean Lodge #550, AF&AM. Survivors include his wife, two sons, Karel of Kingsley and David of Denver, Colorado; four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Van Ornam of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Clayton (Beverly) Wolff of Streeter, North Dakota; Mrs. Darold (Diane) Wolff of Waverly and Mrs. Neal (Sheryl) Weller of Waterloo, one brother, Vern of Dunlap; three sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Edith) Kraft of Veneta, Oregon, Mrs. Myrtle Longlee of Sioux City and Mrs. Rita Henry of Omaha, twelve grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded by his parents, one son, Mervin, two brothers and one sister.
