He was born June 5, 1915 at Green City, Missouri, the son of Thomas H. and Lulu Higgins Shelton. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was born June 5, 1915 at Green City, Missouri, the son of Thomas H. and Lulu Higgins Shelton. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. On November 11, 1945, Everett was united in marriage to Alta I. Brown at Oskaloosa, and she died July 26, 2001. He was a molder in the foundry at Clow Iowa Valve in Oskaloosa for over 33 years, retiring in 1980. He was a longtime member of the Free Methodist Church in Oskaloosa, and had served as a board member and treasurer for many years. Everett enjoyed tinkering with small engines. Everett is survived by 2 sons and their wives: Richard "Rich" and Diane Shelton of Oskaloosa, James "Jim" and Debbie Shelton of Oskaloosa, and a daughter and her husband: Elaine and Wayne Smith of Oskaloosa; 5 grandchildren: Jeff, Crissy, Joshua, and Amiee Shelton, and Jennifer Williams; and 2 great grandchildren: Nicholas and Andrea Williams. Besides his wife, Everett was preceded in death by his parents; a half brother: Walter Shelton; and 2 sisters: Edith Vance and Edna Lisk. Funeral services for Everett Shelton will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Dwayne Poe officiating. Burial will be in the Coal Creek Cemetery, southwest of Oskaloosa. Graveside military rites will be given by members of the Oskaloosa American Legion and V.F.W. Memorials may be given to Mahaska Hospice. Visitation will begin Sunday after 2 p.m., and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Monday from 6:30 ? 8 p.m. to greet friends and relatives (Above from the Bates Funeral web site)
