Previously buried in St. James military cemetery in France, the body of Pfc. Holliday was brought to the United States on the USAT Greenville Victory and taken to the Chicago distribution center. Pfc. Holliday entered the army in December of 1943 and went overseas in August of 1944. He was post- humously awarded the Bronze Star medal for "heroic achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy" on Sept. 10, 1944. The son of James T. and Margaret Holliday, he was born in Muscatine on Nov. 12, 1912. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Marguerite Holliday, 314 1/2 East Second street; three daughters, Norma Jean, Darlene and Karen Sue; three brothers, Eugene of Muscatine, Leo of Davenport and James P. of Rock Island; and eight sisters, Mrs. E. B. Patterson, Mrs. R. F. Martin, Mrs. Al Reynolds, Mrs. Pearl Bayers and Mrs. Winona Larson, all of Muscatine, Mrs. Jessie Earl of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. June Conklin and Mrs. Arthur Frank, both of Rock Island. He was preceded in dealh by his father and one brother, Lester Norton Holliday.
