Description	:	Family and friends were shocked and saddened at the passing of Everett A. Hirtle, 65, of LaHave Islands, on Feb. 3, 1985, at the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital. He had been in ill health for a number of years, but bore his illness with great courage. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was a friend to all, was well thought by many, and was tenderly cared for by his loving wife, Elizabeth, all of those years. He had been in ill health for a number of years, but bore his illness with great courage. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was a friend to all, was well thought by many, and was tenderly cared for by his loving wife, Elizabeth, all of those years. Born on LaHave Islands on July 19, 1919, he was the son of the late William and Mary Jane (Walfield) Hirtle. He served with the Canadian Army from March, 1941 to January 1947, then worked on the Pierless Oil Tanker for a few years, after which he was an inshore fisherman until poor health forced him to quit. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 24. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth; son Ricky and stepson Jerry Himmelman; three sisters Alma (Mrs. Frank Daniels), Dartmouth; Florence (Mrs. Basil Leslie), Bridgewater; Verna (Mrs. Carl Himmelman), Rhodes Corner; three brothers, Oscar, Broad Cove; Raymond, Bush Island; and Harry, Dublin Shore; one grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers Basil and Wilbert. The body rested at Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater, where a memorial service was held on Feb. 4, 1985 by the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 24, where funeral services were held Feb. 5, 1985, conducted by Rev. Gordon McLean, with interment at family lot, Bell's Island. Private, RCASCCA
