Description	:	“The first Blacksmith was Ewins Wright, he used also to make and peddle bells. The first Grist Mill was erected by Ewins Wright near the center of Lot 17 in the year 1817. This was a building about 24 feet square made of round logs. The water was conveyed thither by a long race and large troughs, and there confined in a Penstock some 20 feet high, at the bottom of which the water was let on to a tub wheel in a perpendicular position. This mill would grind from 100 to 150 Bushels in 24 hours in time of freshet." - Sketches of the Early History of Pierpont by Lampson Wright Esq., 1845 Sinking Typhus Fever In the 1830 an epidemic hit Pierpont from a disease that was then called the Sinking Typhus Fever. Lampson Wright lost his youngest brother on July 11, 1831 and his father on August 1, 1831 to this disease that ravaged Pierpont. He describes the event, "These were truly the days of suffering and affliction.
