Description	:	First wife was Elizabeth Rowletts Ezra Barrows Sisty, seventy-five, Rimbey, died March 31 at his home following a long illness. Born in Napoleon, O., he moved with his parents to Nebraska in 1867 and thence to Oklahoma where he was one of the first to take up land in the Springdale district where he farmed until his retirement in 1926. Born in Napoleon, O., he moved with his parents to Nebraska in 1867 and thence to Oklahoma where he was one of the first to take up land in the Springdale district where he farmed until his retirement in 1926. In 1905 he married Miss Edna Flansburg. The couple had one child, Marie. By a former marriage, he had two children, Mrs. Lulu Davis, Glenwood, Ia., and Clifford Sisty who died in 1895 at the age of eighteen. He was a member of the Baptist church at Rimbey. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the United church Rimbey, Rev. P.J. Bartram, assisted by Rev. W. J. Moores, officiating. Pallbearers were D. H. Watts, J. J. Goings, T. N. Contributor: Pam (47202912) SISTY By Marie Sisty Kovacs We moved from the farm at Springdale to Rim- bey in the spring of 1919. My father, Ezra B. Sisty was born in Ohio, moved west with his family to Nebraska as a boy. He spent a few years in Oklaho- ma before coming to Alberta in 1902. Mother, Edna Flansburg came from Iowa to join him in 1905. My father had aunts and cousins in the Ponoka- Morningside area so they included visiting withand going to market. As time went by and Rimbey was growing and providing more services and the road problem at the river hill was taken care of we made the shorter journey to Rimbey. That was 14 miles and with team and buggy could be accom- plished between morning and evening chores. As my father's health became poorer it was de- cided that Rimbey would be a good place to live. We spent the first three months in Jim Rimbey's house three doors east of the old Nazarene church. Mrs. Platt had Mabel take me to Sunday school� Naomi Rimbey was my teacher. I still have a little book she gave me. The rest of the year we lived in the O.B. Moore house (Cotton). Constable Rae and family took it over, after we moved, as the barracks and resi- dence. My folks had built a small cottage across the street west from Platts garage. Raymond wired it and supplied us with electricity. I started to school briefly in the fall of 1920 to Miss Hansen but came down with whooping cough. When Mr. Donnelly came to teach in Jan- uary 1921, he started a new grade one class with Clifford Eckhardt, Joe Woods, another boy and my- self. I had a very short Grade one as Mother and I went to Iowa for her fathers 98th birthday June 5. Mother had taught for a number of years in Iowa so was qualified to supplement my meager learn- ing. The Iddings and my folks had been friends for some time. Mother told about going there for Christ- mas 1913 in the buggy and how the dust blew. My father was Baptist and mother Methodist so they decided on the old Methodist Church to at- tend and were active in it as long as they lived. Mrs. Dick Pridgeon, Mrs. Iddings sister-in-law, was my first Sunday School teacher there. Sometime in the fall of 1921 the Ells family moved into town and Mrs. Ells gathered as many ladies as she could and put on the production "The Old Maids Convention", a comedy and a great suc- cess. I enjoyed the rehearsals as I got to play with the Ells children. Rimbey was a great place for fires. I went down to Perry Bunch's for a pail of water one evening and noticed a strange light in the sky. Mother went out to look and recognized what it was. We went to see and found the creamery burning. Rol- stons, Beattys and Whites burned just as we were ready to move back to the farm in the spring of 1923. Beatty's rented our house then until their buildings could be built. Other than Church organizations my parents were directors of the Agricultural Society. Ted George was Sheriff as well as agent for ma- chinery and Model "A" Fords when they came out. He asked my father to mind the office when he had to be out on business. That gave him a nice place to meet people and hear how farming and other interests were coming along. My father died in 1931 and mother in 1942. In 1935 I was married to Frank Kovacs, a blacks- mith and welder by trade. Rimbey business in win- ter was not adequate so we moved on. We've lived in Leduc, Bon Accord and Stony Plain. In 1950 Frank decided to go into the hotel business and that took us to Legal, Fort Saskatchewan and Was- katenau.
