She was born on June 26, 1916, at Flat River, MO, daughter of the late Wallace L. and Hattie Lee (Fitzwater) Currington. Read More	Nadine Giessing June 26th, 1916 - April 21st, 2010 Nadine Giessing of Farmington passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Parkland Health Center at the age of 93 years, 9 months, and 26 days. She was born on June 26, 1916, at Flat River, MO, daughter of the late Wallace L. and Hattie Lee (Fitzwater) Currington. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond G. Giessing in November, 1983; five brothers, Clyde, Lindell, Glenn, William and Lester Currington and two sisters, Bernice McClanahan and Hattie Lee Phillippe. Also preceding her in death was a nephew and Godson, Dennis R. Currington. The last remaining member of the 1934 graduating class of Flat River High School, Nadine went on to attend Flat River Junior College. At the age of twelve, Nadine's mother passed away in childbirth, leaving her to help raise the baby, Hattie Lee along with her other siblings. On May 29, 1941 she was wed to the love of her life, Raymond G. Giessing, by Reverend E. C. Pardieck at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Farmington. During the many years she lived and worked in Farmington, she was employed by the County Treasurer, Earl Sebastian, Tullock Equipment and Fitz Chevrolet. During World War II, Nadine worked at the POW camp in Weingarten. Nadine's professional career ended in 1957 and she spent the next 52 years in service to others. She was active in the community serving as a volunteer for the United Fund and she delivered Meals on Wheels with her friend, Gayle Archambo. She also was active in the American Red Cross where she was Treasurer. She served many years as Election Clerk at the polls and for 27 years served on the Ben-Nor Board where she was a board member at the time of her death. Nadine was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a charter member of the Womens Club. Survivors include a special nephew and niece, Gary L. and Joyce Currington of Fenton, MO; a special niece, Carol J. Faircloth of Farmington; sisters-in-law, Ida Currington of Farmington, Marie Currington and Erla Giessing both of St. Louis; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of good friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 24. Visitation will resume Sunday at 10 a.m. with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor James King officiating, assisted by Pastor David Oddi. Interment will follow at St Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Building Fund or Church Organ Fund.
