Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," April 21, 1951: Mrs. Fannie Heslen, 74, of 302 South Madison avenue, died Friday at 11:15 p.m. at the Rest Haven nursing home at 609 West Fourth street. The daughter of Robert and Ziltha [sic] Eyre, she was born February 27, 1877, in Wapello county where she had lived all her life. Her marriage to Peter Heslen took place in 1896. He preceded her in death in 1942. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church. Mrs. Heslen is survived by one sister, Mrs. Louella Kump of Kansas City; three brothers, Thomas Eyre of Ottumwa, Charles Eyre of Eskridge, Kan., and John Eyre of St. Louis, Mo. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel pending completion of arrangements. "HESLEN SERVICES," From "Ottumwa Courier," April 23, 1951: Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Heslen, 74, of 302 South Madison avenue, who died at the Rest Haven nursing home Friday evening, will be at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Johnson funeral home and at 9 o'clock at St. Patrick's Catholic church, where a requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. T.C. Donohoe. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. Friends will meet at the chapel at 8 o'clock tonight to recite the rosary. Pallbearers will be Jim Hunt, Alva Hunt, Louis Booth, Orville Eyre, Frank Owens and Harvey Galpin.
