Description	:	Wayne County Democrat November 1921 Fannie Messenger, the second daughter of James and Elizabeth Messenger, was born in the state of Pennsylvania, May 22nd, 1848. She passed away at her home in Allerton, Iowa, at 11 o'clock on Thursday, November 17th, 1921, aged 53 years, 5 months and 14 days. Read More	Wayne County Democrat November 1921 Fannie Messenger, the second daughter of James and Elizabeth Messenger, was born in the state of Pennsylvania, May 22nd, 1848. She passed away at her home in Allerton, Iowa, at 11 o'clock on Thursday, November 17th, 1921, aged 53 years, 5 months and 14 days. At the age of two years, she moved with her parents to a farm west of Corydon, Wayne County, Iowa, in which county she spent her entire life. She was united in marriage to Warren Speer of Jefferson TWP., on Feb. 21, 1894. To this union was born 8 children, all of whom are still living. From Jefferson Twp., where the first four children were born, they moved to a farm north of New Zion church. One son was born here. From there they moved on her father's place, where three other children were born. Here she lived and tenderly cared for her mother until her mother's death. Bringing her invalid sister with her, the family moved to Allerton, Iowa, last March. The deceased, while yet a little girl, confessed her Savior, and united with the Unity Baptist Church. She lived a faithful and conscientious Christian life. She transferred her church membership to the Allerton M.E. Church on their removal to Allerton. Ambitious as she was, it was one of the regrets of her life that she could not complete her education. Unselfishly she gave her girlhood to home duties, because on an invalid mother. Her life was marked by kindness and tenderness to others. She was always glad to respond to the need of others and sought to minister to the sick and suffering whenever there was opportunity. She was a good wife and mother, respected and loved by all who knew her. She hath entered into that rest which remaineth for the people of God. The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved husband and children. The children who survive her are: Mrs. Roscoe Petty of Lineville; Lee and Dewey of near Zion, Walter of Greeley, Colo., and Hazel, Gladys, Fern and Lois, who are still at home and who were all present during the last illness of their mother. The deceased father and mother and one sister, Flora, preceded her to the better world. Besides the loved ones in the home circle, she leaves to mourn her, two sisters, four brothers, six little grand children and a host of relatives and friends. The sisters are: Mrs. W. F. Mead, of New Zion and Agnes Messenger. The brothers are: Joseph, of LeRoy, Kansas, James of Rushville, Nebraska, Jesse of Brush, Colorado and Wm. M., of Millerton, Iowa. "Precious mother thou hast left us, But we know that thou are not In the dark old earth beneath us, But are in the Saviour's Arms." The funeral services were held in the Allerton M.E. Church, Saturday afternoon, Nov. 19th, at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Guy J. Winslow. The body was laid to rest in the Allerton cemetery.
