Burnett March 2, 1923 - January 18, 2015 Grand Junction resident Fannie Viola Burnett, 91, died Sunday, January 18, 2015, after an extended illness. She was of the "Greatest Generation," with vivid memories of the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression, she and her twin sister, Jennie, now of Albuquerque, were born March 2, 1923, in Elkhart, Kansas. Fan married her tall, handsome sweetheart, Marian "Bud" Burnett, on February 5, 1941, and kept the "home fires burning" while he fought in Europe. They then lived in Lamar, Colorado where a daughter and son were born. The family moved to Dolores in 1954, then to Durango, where Bud became a postman. Fan worked as a cook and, later, as cafeteria manager for the schools. The couple loved outdoor activities and being with family and friends. They retired in the early 1980s, and moved to Clifton in 1987 to be near her daughter. Fan is survived by three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Granddaughter, Cheryl, died in 2005. Bud died in 2003, shortly after their 62nd anniversary. Obituary contributed by Cara - Find-A-Grave contributor.
