Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. Reverend Paul Eisele will celebrate. Burial with military rites conducted by the Wasmer American Legion Post 241 in Le Mars will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Farrell Vayne Marsh was born January 3, 1919 in Battle Creek, Iowa, the son of Henry Stephen and Carla Pearl (Lampman) Marsh. He lived in Battle Creek a short time before moving with his family to Mapleton, Iowa. He attended school and graduated from high school in Mapleton. Following his graduation, he went to work for Swift and Company in Sioux City. He was drafted into the United States Marine Corps during the World War II conflict. He served his country on the Islands of Somalia overseas. He was honorably discharged. Following his service, he returned to Sioux City and went back to work for Swift and Company. He was united in marriage to Mary Loutsch on December 16, 1961 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City. They made their home in Sioux City until 1970, when they moved to an acreage near Le Mars. Bud continued to work at Swift and Company until retiring after 42 years of service. Bud was a member of St. James Parish in Le Mars. He was an avid bowler, having bowled in leagues in Sioux City and Le Mars for many years. He also participated in many tournaments through the years. He was a member of the Wasmer American Legion Post 241 in Le Mars. Bud enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, and playing cards. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife of over 51 years, Mary of Le Mars; his children: Roger Marsh of Denison, IA, Candace Eades (fiance Ed Clark) of Craig, IA, Gene (Karla) Marsh of Bondurant, IA, Ron Marsh of Le Mars, and Steve (Diedre) Marsh of Le Mars; four grandchildren: Ashley Eades and Holly Eades of Craig, IA, Weston Marsh and Nathan Marsh of Le Mars, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father in law: Mike and Clara Loutsch; a son: Michael Marsh; a grandson: Drew Allen Eades; and his siblings: Minnette Rusch, Thala Barber, Freeman Marsh, Ferne Koll, Hazel Davis, Faye Maynard, Phyllis Pritchard, Bob Marsh, and twins in infancy, Donald and Dorothy Marsh.
