Description	:	Fauneil "Butch" Buettow, 88, of Fremont died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont. She was born Jan. 29, 1924, in Norfolk to Arthur and Anna (Schraer) Maier. She grew up there and graduated from Norfolk High School. She moved to California after high school, later returning to Norfolk. After the World War II years, she went to Florida where an uncle lived. She was married in the late 1940s to Duane Buettow, who was employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. Merrick Manor in Fremont. She was born Jan. 29, 1924, in Norfolk to Arthur and Anna (Schraer) Maier. She grew up there and graduated from Norfolk High School. She moved to California after high school, later returning to Norfolk. After the World War II years, she went to Florida where an uncle lived. She was married in the late 1940s to Duane Buettow, who was employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. They lived in Norfolk and came to Fremont in the early 1950s. During her working years, she was employed by the telephone company, a hardware distributor, and she retired as an elementary school librarian. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening and playing cards. She had traveled extensively, both in the states and outside the country. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and took part in the Solos group. She had been active with the railroad auxiliary, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion auxiliaries Survivors include: a son, Steven (and wife, Pat) Buettow of Aspen, Colo.; granddaughter, Annie; and son-in-law, Matthew Kutscher of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969; by her daughter, Wendy, in 2008; and two infant children and a brother. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Fremont with the Revs. Charlie Axness and Norman Freund officiating. There is no public visitation. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk.
