Description	:	PROSPECT – (Faustina) Rose (Harriman) Otis, 94, succumbed to the rigors of old age and passed away at rest with herself on Sunday, June 22 at Harbor Hill in Belfast. She was born in Prospect on January 28, 1920 the daughter of Harvard and Edrie (Ginn) Harriman. Rose was a graduate of Stockton Springs High School in 1938. Read More	PROSPECT – (Faustina) Rose (Harriman) Otis, 94, succumbed to the rigors of old age and passed away at rest with herself on Sunday, June 22 at Harbor Hill in Belfast. She was born in Prospect on January 28, 1920 the daughter of Harvard and Edrie (Ginn) Harriman. Rose was a graduate of Stockton Springs High School in 1938. After graduation she attended nursing school – a profession she never got to practice because she was swept off her feet by a young suitor named Wesley Otis, whom she later married and built a life with. After her marriage she and Wesley resided with her grandparents in Prospect until their passing and she then remained there for the rest of her life, spending over 90 years in the same home. Rose always put being a wife, mother and homemaker first, and during that time also worked for the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, first in Bucksport, then in Belfast, and later in Brewer prior to her retirement where she made many great friends. She was a member of the Sandy Point Congregational Church as well as a past member of the Grange and of the Pythian Sisters Lodge where she held several offices. At her passing she was the holder of the Boston Post Cane, emblematic of being the oldest resident in the town - an honor that she was reluctant to accept – as was her way. She was known for her outgoing nature, her ability to carry on a conversation, and her ability to make a great graham-cracker pie which she contributed to many a town supper. Rose was a wonderful, charitable, caring person who never hurt any person in her life and wouldn’t tell a lie if she knew one. Her door was always open to anyone who dropped by to talk as one of her favorite things in life right up until the end was a good conversation. She will be sadly missed by her community and everyone who knew her. She was predeceased by her grandparents who raised her, Lester and Alma Harriman; her husband, Wesley Otis; her daughter Joanne, and her sister and lifelong companion until her sister’s death, Marjorie.
