Born Nov. 2, 1918, near Trenton in Henry County, she was the daughter of Mark Ray and Nellie Klopfenstein Brewster. On Oct. 15, 1938, she married Charles Daniel Wood in Mount Pleasant. Born Nov. 2, 1918, near Trenton in Henry County, she was the daughter of Mark Ray and Nellie Klopfenstein Brewster. On Oct. 15, 1938, she married Charles Daniel Wood in Mount Pleasant. He died April 11, 1961. On June 18, 1978, she married Arthur Raymond Mills in Mount Pleasant. He died July 26, 1997. Mrs. Mills worked 28 years in the quality control department at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown. She attended Montgomery Country School and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1937. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the former Order of the Eastern Star Bethlehem Chapter 38 in Mount Pleasant and held an honorary membership in Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 469. She was a member of White Shrine Chapter in Burlington and Daughters of the Nile in Davenport. She held dual membership in Order of the Eastern Star Wayland Chapter 494 and was a member of the Business and Professional Women in Mount Pleasant. She enjoyed attending Midwest Old Threshers Reunion and Iowa State Fair, traveling, bus tours, cards and TV shows including Dean Martin, roller derby and professional wrestling. She raised plants and flowers and especially enjoyed African violets. Survivors include one daughter, Joan Harris of Danville; one sister, Betty Messer of Wayland; six grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, her parents and one brother. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. Family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant. The funeral for Mrs. Mills will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist, with the Rev. Herbert Shafer officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
