Description	:	Faye Ann Taylor was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, November 28, 2010. Faye was born on a farm near Dow City, Iowa on August 29, 1929. She was the first daughter and second child of Arlow and Pearl Harrison. She attended elementary school in Iowa and Washington, graduating from Mossyrock High school in 1947. Faye was born on a farm near Dow City, Iowa on August 29, 1929. She was the first daughter and second child of Arlow and Pearl Harrison. She attended elementary school in Iowa and Washington, graduating from Mossyrock High school in 1947. The Harrison family moved to Humboldt County in 1948. Faye truly had a sense of adventure. As a teenager she and a friend traveled by train from Iowa to Chicago, Niagra Falls and New York City. She met James Taylor in Mossyrock, WA, when he returned from service in the Army in WWII and they were later married in Mossy rock on July 7, 1950. Faye and Jim moved to Redcrest, CA in 1954 and then to Fortuna in 1956. Faye worked for Carter Brothers Lumber Co. for 5 years until giving birth to her first child. In 1971, Faye began attending College of the Redwoods and graduated in 1975 with an AA degree. She worked in the business machines/secretarial lab and court reporting program until her retirement in 1991. Faye served as Sunday School Superintendent for the Loleta Evangelical Church for 20 years. Later, she attended Hydesville Community Church where she served on the missions committee, senior luncheon committee and taught the senior exercise program. Faye was also involved in the Fortuna Christians Women's Club for many years. As a family, they traveled extensively throughout the United States and western Canada and enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives and spending many days fishing on remote lakes and rivers. Summers were spent exploring their favorite vacation spots including; Yellow Stone, Lake Louise, Banff and Sugar Lake, British Columbia, Colorado, Iowa, Mexico and Alaska. Maintaining the home on Drake Hill Rd brought great joy to Faye. She was known for her large productive vegetable and flower gardens. Faye celebrated her 80th birthday August of last year, with a wonderful party in the garden at Scotia Inn, surrounded by 150 family and friends. Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Jim Taylor, mother and father Pearl and Arlow Harrison, and brother Wayne Harrison. Faye is survived by her daughter Sharon and husband Steve Shamp of Eureka, son Jim and wife Lisa, grandsons Travis and Preston and granddaughter Ashlyn all of Glendale, CA. She is also survived by sister Fern and husband Rolland Rich of Santa Ana, CA and many nieces and nephews and special friends. The family would like welcome friends to a visitation on Friday, December 3th from 7 to 8:30 pm at Goble's Mortuary, 560 12th St., Fortuna. Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on December 4th at 4pm at the Hydesville Community Church, 3296 Highway 36, Hydesville. Family internment will be at Sunrise Cemetery at 1pm. Care is under the direction of Gobles Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, Faye requested that donations be made to the Hydesville Community Church Building Fund.
