Osceola Sentinel-Tribune- Thursday, September 16, 2004-Page 3 FAYE LEOTA GEISLER Faye Leota Scott Geisler, the oldest child of Murrell G And Melvessa E Severson Scott, was born June 21, 1914, northwest of Cambridge and died at her home with her son and his wife, Dwight and Judt Neress on Sept. 10, 2004, in rural Leon. She was 90. She grew to womanhood in the Walnut Grove and Huxley area. She married Arnold L. Nernes in January 1934 and they became the parents of three sons. Daryl A., Larry G., and Dwight B.. Later she married Gayle R. Geisler and became the stepmother of Dan and Ken Geisler. Mrs. Geisler's love of music was her career. She sang at numerous church meetings, social functions and funerals. In 1948 she and her sister Zelda sang for President Harry S Truman at the National Plowing Match. She performed with her brother Harold and sister Zelda as the Scott Trio. She and Zelda sang on the WHO Barn Dance as The Two Little Girls in Blue. She was preceded in death by per parents; brothers, Lyle, Loren and Harold, husband Gayle in 1991; and three grandchildren, Rebecka, Billy and Timmy. Mrs. Geiosler is survived by three sons, Daryl Nerness and his wife Sue Nerness, of Osceola, Larry Nernes and his wife Helen Nernes and Dwight Nernes and his wife Judy Nernes, all of Leon; eight grandchildren, Linda Rhodes, Timothy Nernes, Mark Nernes, Daryl Nerness II, LaRaine Lyons, Machelle Clark, John Nerness and Malinda Graham; 22 great-grandchildren and eight gret-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two stepsons, Dan Geisler and his wife, Janet Geisler of Clive and Ken Geisler and his wife, Shirley Geisler of Des Moines; step grandchildren and great stepgrandchildren; as well as her sister Zelda Chandler and her husband Tom Chandler of Rock Ledge, Fla.; two brothers, Ferris Scott and his wife Grace Scott of Ankeny and Lynn Scott and his wife Ginger Scott, of Swaledale; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Geisler were Sept 14 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, the Rev. Terry D Roberts officiating. Musician Virgina Webb accompanied the congregation as they sang How Great Thou Art. Recorded music was Until Then by Dwight Nernes, In the garden by Machelle Clark, Amazing Grace by Malinda Nernes and the Lord's Prayer by Faye Geisler. Casket Bearers were Travis Clark, Tyler Graham, Bobby Miner, Daryl Nerness Jr., John Nerness, Mark Nernes, Matthew Nernes, Tim Nernes, C. J Rhodes, Cliff Rhodes and Kevin Thompson. Interment was in the Davis City Cemetery.
