The only son of Wm. and Hettie Kincaid, the last survivor and owner of slaves in Highland county, and whose home in days of slavery was the center of the most refined hospitality. The great grandson of John Kincaid, the first Elder of the Blue Spring congregation. His father, William Kincaid, was captured at he battle of Piedmont in June 1864, taken to prison in New York, and was on way to another prison with large... Read More	Highland Recordfer January 29, 1926 Died, on the 18th Jan. 1926, at his home on the Cowpasture, Felix Moore Kincaid, aged 70 years. The only son of Wm. and Hettie Kincaid, the last survivor and owner of slaves in Highland county, and whose home in days of slavery was the center of the most refined hospitality. The great grandson of John Kincaid, the first Elder of the Blue Spring congregation. His father, William Kincaid, was captured at he battle of Piedmont in June 1864, taken to prison in New York, and was on way to another prison with large number of Confederates, when the train collided with another, killing Kincaid and 40 others. They were thrown in a near-by ditch, and there lay for 40 years. None of his friends knew of his sad death. At this period the U. S. Government took up these 40 Confederates and gave them a humane burial in near-by cemetery. His funeral was preached by our good pastor Lyle M. Moffett at the old home, and was laid to rest on a beautiful knoll over-looking the beautiful waters of the Cowpasture. Peace to his ashes. Married in 1883 to Mary Susan Johns.
