Read More	From an August 1970 newspaper clipping (probably from Marshalltown) Fred Wiese, 90, Died Thursday In Care Center Fred Wiese, 90, former Montour and Toledo resident, and father of Supervisor Roy Wiese, died at Sunny Hill Care Center, late Thursday evening, Aug. 6, where he had been a patient the past eight months. He had been in failing health and death was attributed to complications of advanced age. He was born in Germany, son of Fredrick and Elizabeth Wiese, on March 4, 1880. When he was four years old, he came to Des Moines with his father, living there until his father died, when he was 10 years old. He then made his home with an uncle on a farm west of Tama, and was educated and grew to manhood in the Toledo and Montour area. On Nov. 5, 1900, in Highland Township, he married Goldie Ray of Tama. The couple farmed in the Montour and Toledo communities until retiring several years ago, when they moved to Toledo, where Mr. Wiese lived until entering the Care Center in January of this year. Mrs. Wiese died in 1965. Also preceding him in death were his parents and a daughter, Mrs. Denny McCoy in 1936. (His other three half-brothers Henry Lawrence and Ernest Jacobs and Richard Leader, and his brother Charley also preceded him in death.) Surviving are three children, Roy B. Wiese, Montour, Charles F. Wiese, Keota, Mrs. Glen (Mary) Johnson, Unionville, Mo., 14 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Mary Kramer, Maryville, Mo., and a half-brother, Dallas P. Leader, Elgin, Ill. Services were held Monday afternoon at the Mason-Hand Funeral Home at 1:30 o'clock, with Rev. Donald Thompson, pastor of the Otterbein United Methodist church, in charge. Mrs. Robert Malin, organist, accompanied Mrs. Dale Wiese, who sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "Ivory Palaces." Floral tributes were cared for by Mrs. John Ba(illegible), and Mrs. Floyd Campbell. Pallbearers were Dallas Wiese, Dale Wiese, Merle McCoy, Charles Wiese Jr., Orville Goldsworth and Floyd Campbell. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Montour.
