He attended St. Charles Catholic school near West Point. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dodge, past member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Howells, a member of Holy Name Society and a 50 year choir member. He married Catherine Grewe Feb. 15, 1927, at rural West Point. They farmed south of West Point and later near Dodge. They retired to Dodge in 1966. She died Jan. 23, 1961. For the past four years, he was a resident of the Dodge Parkview Home and later the Hooper Care center. Survivors include three sons;Cletus, Milford, IA, Harold, of Blair, and Eric of Arlington; three daughters, Mrs. Henrietta (Rudy) Tomka, Clarkson, Mrs. Elizabeth ( Wilbert) Throener, West Point, and Mrs. Ferdina (Alan) Mark, Omaha; 20 grand children; 10 great granchildren; three brothers, Anton of Dodge, Casper, of Fremont, and Edward of West Point. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, one sister and one grandson.
