Children: Richard Gene and John "Jack" Richard Rembold Fern (Hanse) Rembold was born Jan. 16, 1911 in Ferndale, Whatcom Co., WA and was the youngest of ten children born to Martin and Ellen (Brotne) Hanse. In 1909 her parents had moved to Ferndale, WA from Webster, Day Co., SD. She was baptized Feb. 25, 1911 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Ferndale. In 1916 the family moved back to the family farm in Webster, SD where she obtained her early education. She was confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church of Webster on June 25, 1925. She graduated from Webster High School in 1929 and in 1933 graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. During the next few summers she did graduate work in music at McPhails School of Music in Minneapolis and at State College in Brookings, SD. In the fall of 1933 she started teaching English and vocal music at first at Garden City and then Lake Preston, SD. On Feb. 4, 1940 she was married to Alvin E. Rembold, who was a high school band teacher and they eventually made their home in Blair, NB where she was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Blair. They had two children, one son died at age two. She was the last Hanse sibling and passed away May 25, 2005 in Emmett Co., IA. She is survived by son, John Rembold of Estherville, IA. She was preceded in death by husband, Alvin Rembold in 1993; son, Richard Rembold in 1941; father, Martin Hanse in 1943; mother, Ellen Hanse in 1953; sisters, Mrs. Laura Perry in 1965, Mrs. Anna Halvorson in 1966, Mrs. Belle Gunderson in 1971, Mrs. Cora Carlson in 1973, Mrs. Theresa Boyd in 1980, Mrs. Barbara Olsen in 1990, Mrs. Nina Henschien in 1993; brothers, Edwin Hanse in 1952, and Martin Hanse in 1985.
