Pleasant Cemetery Sioux Falls, South Dakota Fern Darby, daughter of John and Edna (Whitman) Darby, was born June 8, 1928 in Bridgewater, South Dakota. She grew up in the Montrose, South Dakota area, graduating from high school in 1946. She was united in marriage to Jack Rose on September 12, 1948 in Luverne, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls. In addition to being a loving wife and homemaker, Fern worked as a pet groomer for the Clipping Post, and for several years at Sioux Falls College. Jack preceded her in death on July 2, 1994. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, the Trustee board, chairperson of White Cross ABW, and the church women's circle. Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, Darrel (Teddi), Vista, California, Mark (Lachel), Longmont, Colorado, Kevin (Vicky), of Sioux Falls, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a sister, Marcella Cummings, Sioux Falls, 2 brothers, Merlyn Darby, and Donald (Karen) Darby, both of Sioux Falls, and a host of other relatives and friends. Her parents, a son, Gary, a sister Helen and 3 brothers, John, Ronald and James, also preceded her in death.
