Funeral Services were at 11 a.m Wednesday, June 29, at the Associated Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Willard Galloway officiating Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Visitation was Tuesday June 28, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Porter Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden Mrs. Keehn was born September 11, 1901, on a farm southeast of Alcester, SD, the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Olson) Anderson. She lived her younger years in Uehling, NE, and graduated from the Hawarden High School in 1921. She married Lee A Keehn April 12, 1922, at Omaha, Neb. Together they fanned north of Hawarden, moving into town in 1951. Mr. Keehn died December 29, 1972. She has resided for the past five years at the Hass Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden. She was a member of the Associated Church, Rebeccas, Order of Eastern Star and other social organizations. Her great hobby was crocheting, especially afghans and baby booties of which she crocheted over 1000 pair. In 1960, when Prince Andrew was born she sent booties to Queen Elizabeth. When royal couple, Prince and Princess of Wales were expecting, she also sent booties to them. Both times thank you letters were received from the royal family. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Marie Degen and her husband, Norman of Hawarden; a sister, Hazel Miller of Minneapolis; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Sandra and Doug Robbins and their children Tami and C.J. of Hawarden; and Trent Degen of Aurora, Colo.; Kristi and Jim Anderson of Hawarden; Joe and Dianne Degen and their children Travis, Tali Jo, and Dustin of Missoula, Mont.; and nine nephews and nieces. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Anderson and a sister, Myrtle Cain. The Independent (Hawarden, Iowa) 6/30/1994
