She grew up in Nevada and graduated from high school in 1937. She was united in marriage with Willard Samson on August 24, 1944, and to this union two children were born. Fern was an active member of First Christian Church where she was in charge of the funeral luncheons for many years in addition to working in the clerk’s office for the city of Nevada. Survivors include her daughter Christine Baumann of Indianola, Iowa, a brother Morris Van Sickle of Nevada; a sister Doris Samson of Nevada; her seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and her 6 great-great grandchildren along with many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Willard Samson in 1973; a daughter Patricia Miller a grandson Jeff Thomas ; her parents; two sisters, Inez Van Sickle, and Mary Horine, and her brother Joe Van Sickle.
