Description	:	Ferne Florence Fransen Sept 4,1913-July 26,2009 Ferne Florence Fransen, 95, of Hershey, died July 26, 2009, at Linden Court in North Platte. Ferne was born Sept. 4, 1913, at Princeton, to John and Alma W.C. Axthelm Leonhardt. She attended school at Hallam, until the family moved south of Sutherland in 1924. She then attended District 19, Sunshine School, through the 8th grade. Ferne stayed with and worked for Mrs. Kate Pierson during the week while attending high school at Sutherland. Read More	Ferne Florence Fransen Sept 4,1913-July 26,2009 Ferne Florence Fransen, 95, of Hershey, died July 26, 2009, at Linden Court in North Platte. Ferne was born Sept. 4, 1913, at Princeton, to John and Alma W.C. Axthelm Leonhardt. She attended school at Hallam, until the family moved south of Sutherland in 1924. She then attended District 19, Sunshine School, through the 8th grade. Ferne stayed with and worked for Mrs. Kate Pierson during the week while attending high school at Sutherland. She graduated from Sutherland High School in 1931. Ferne continued to work in various homes in Sutherland and North Platte until she married Arthur Harold Fransen on Feb. 12, 1936, at Sutherland. They lived northwest of Hershey from 1936-1942, northeast of Hershey from 1942-1954, then purchased the Oscar and Minnie Fransen Farm in the Nichols Community. Ferne and Arthur ran a dairy and farmed. They later sold the dairy but continued farming. For several years, Ferne cooked in the kitchens for Western Livestock Auction and the Lincoln County Fair. In the early 1960s, she cooked for Madison Junior High School in North Platte before working in the kitchen of Hershey School. In 1975, they sold the farm and moved into Hershey. Alma came to live with them from 1978 until her death in 1981. Ferne was a member of the Hershey United Methodist Church, U.M.W., Nichols Ladies Aide and she dedicated her service by serving on the Outreach Committee for the U.M.W. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn (Rodger) White of Hershey; two grandchildren, Brett White of Lincoln, his fianc?e, Joann Kouba of Manhattan, Kan., Becki (Cary) Sandell of Malcolm; three great-grandchildren, Courtney, Emily and Jessica; several nieces, nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; an infant daughter, Patricia; her parents; a sister, Luella Poyner; and two brothers, Harold and Floyd Leonhardt. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 30, at the Hershey United Methodist Church with Pastor Adam Davenport officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.
