Description	:	Son of James and Desdemona Harrison. In his marriage papers, he claimed to have been born in Sumpter County, Mississippi, but there is no such county. May have been born in Sumter County, Georgia. Enlisted 3/8/1862, Rapides Parish, Louisiana in Co. H, 8th Louisiana Infantry. In Charlottesville Hospital with pneumonia 4/14/62-4/24/62. Still listed as absent sick as of 4/27/62. AWOL Sept. 1862. Deserter, but rejoined command by Jan/Feb 1863 Deserted 6/7/1863 near Criglersville, Madison County, Va. Captured as a deserter and forced to subject to Confederate conscription; enrolled in Co. D, 4th Virginia Heavy Artillery, October 31, 1863. Apparently deserted again. Married... Married Sydney Ann Jenkins (daughter of Strother), 8/22/1898 in Page County, though they may have had relations since the 1870s. *Sometimes listed as "Harris", not "Harrison" From the Page Courier*, Thursday 25 Aug 1898: Pencilgraphs "A marriage license was issued from the clerk's office on Monday to Mr. Fostus Bullock Harrison to marry Miss Sydney Ann Jenkins, all from the upper end of Page. The singular part of this affair of hearts is that Mr. Harrison is 72 years old, while the bride is only 48. Mr. Harrison is the hero of two wars and this is his second matrimonial venture. In the Mexican war he was once wounded and twice in the later war, having been a member of a company of Louisiana Zouaves. We congratulate him on his present enlistment and hope that his campaign may be crowned with many successful triumphs." Other records reveal that he was residing in Warren County in 1880 with his wife, Louisa, and three daughters, Emily, E.
