FLORA LESTER PASSED AWAY EARLY TUESDAY AFTER LONG ILLNESS Was 72 Years of Age and Lived Here Many Years—Survived by Husband and Five Children Mrs. Flora Lester, a long time resident of Hawarden, passed away early Tuesday morning at her home following an illness of nine weeks' duration. Her condition had been regarded as critical for some time so that the end was not unexpected. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the Ross Funeral Home with Rev. G. A. Patterson, of the Baptist church, in charge. Interment will be made in Grace Hill cemetery, Mrs. Flora Lester was born at Shipton, Canada, March 9, 1859, and passed away at her home in Hawarden May 19, 1931, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 10 days. She was the last surviving member of a family of four girls and three boys. She came to Iowa with her parents when a. child. In 1893 she became a member of the Brethren church. She was: united in marriage with Chas. C. Gifford who preceded her in death in 1886. To this union were born three children, Oscar Gifford of Sioux City, Jay Gifford of Beresford; and Mrs. Etta Baker of Hawarden. Later she married Eli Lester and to this union two children, Mrs. Effie Storts of Redwood Falls, Minn., and Gaylord Lester of Hawarden, were born. She is survived by her husband, five children and thirteen grandchildren.
