Floreine was born May 14, 1915 in Table Rock, Nebraska to Rudolph and Ida (Foale) Vrtiska. Graduated from Table Rock High School and attended Peru State College, she taught school for six years. Floreine was born May 14, 1915 in Table Rock, Nebraska to Rudolph and Ida (Foale) Vrtiska. Graduated from Table Rock High School and attended Peru State College, she taught school for six years. Married Andrew C. Schultz 10/25/38 in Table Rock, Nebraska and moved to the farm northwest of Burchard where they lived for 67 years. Floreine spoke fluent Czech and in 1951 she and Andrew sponsored a former prisoner of war from Czechoslovakia who lived with their family for nearly a year before he moved to Chicago. In the late 1950's, Floreine was instrumental in several cultural exchanges through the Lewiston Grange and hosted visitors from China, Thailand, the Philippines, and Princess Norodom Sokenary of Cambodia. Floreine was a voracious reader, enjoyed crocheting, knitting, embroidering and quilting. Many family members and people in southeast Nebraska have been the recipients of Floreine's hand-quilted baby quilts. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially loved cooking for them around the holidays. She was best known for her kolaches and other specialties of her Czech heritage. She was a giving, caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all. Survivors: husband of 70 years, Andrew C. Schultz; daughter, Dianne Wilhelm, Overland Park, KS; daughter and son-in-law JoAnn and Doug McGaughey, Lincoln, NE; son and daughter-in-law Andrew Jr. and Barbara Schultz, Lincoln, NE; nine grandchildren; Craig Wilhelm, Kansas City, MO; Gretchen Wilhelm, Kansas City, MO; Shannon McGaughey, East Lansing, MI; Kevin McGaughey, Lincoln, NE; Erin McGaughey, Lincoln, NE; Drew Schultz, Lincoln, NE; Alexandra Schultz, Lincoln, NE; Spencer Schultz, Lincoln, NE; Zachery Schultz, Lincoln, NE. Two great-grandchildren; Jack and Emmy McCabe, Kansas City, MO. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. Brother Senator Floyd Vrtiska, Table Rock, NE; Brother and sister-in-law Lloyd Vrtiska, Table Rock, NE. Preceded in death by parents, brothers, Edwin Schwartz and Rudy Vrtiska and brother in law, Don Wilhelm.
