Read More	Florence Gregoire Peterson, 103, Grand Forks, ND, died Friday, April 15, 2011 in 4000 Valley Square, Woodside Village in Grand Forks. Florence Alice Henry was born January 9, 1908 in Grafton, ND, the daughter of Herman and Florence (Hale) Henry. The family moved to Cohasset, MN in 1920. She married Ernest Gregoire on February 27, 1930 in Deer River, MN. They bought a farm near Merrifield, ND. Ernest passed away in 1940 and one year later, after the Blizzard of 1941, Florence moved into Grand Forks. Florence raised her nine brothers and sisters after her mother died for she was the oldest girl. Six years after she married her first husband, he died leaving her to raise their three children. Florence married Paul Peterson in 1969. Paul died in 1982. At age 65, she remarried and finally enjoyed ten years of happy trouble free life, traveling, playing bridge with her close friends, shopping and gardening. She read at least 65 books a year. Florence worked at R.B. Griffiths Dept. store for a number of years, was active in Homemakers, Catholic Daughters and developed into an early woman's libber with her friend, Helen Baldwin. She lived in Woodland Village at Valley 4000 when she needed more care after enjoying the camaraderie at the Meadows Condos for 25 plus years. She quickly earned the respect of all she met and the love of all who knew her well. Women like her are sent here for a purpose. She is survived by, two sons, Ernie Gregoire, Grand Forks, ND, John Dale (Christine) Gregoire, Altadena, CA; one sister, Ella "Skippy" Fortin; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Gregoire, Eden Prairie, MN, E. Mitch Gregoire, Flagstaff, AZ, Brent Gregoire (Christine) Greenwood Village, CO, Danielle Mrdeza (Matt), Prescott, AZ, Denise Hill (Dana), Qxnard, CA, Darryl Gregoire (Dana), Atascadero, CA, Darla Amado (Mike), Pasadena, CA; four great-grandchildren, Julianna Amado Gavin Gregoire, Aidan Gregoire and MacKenzie Suhy Gregoire; many nieces and nephews. Florence was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Madona Barrett; six brothers, Archie Henry, William Henry, Irvin Henry, Melvin Henry, James Henry, Herman Henry and two sisters, Myrtle Pepple and Francis Axtell; a daughter-in-law, Carole (Mrs. Ernie) Gregoire. Mass of Christian Burial: 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011 in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND. Visitation: 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday with a 5:00 p.m. vigil service in the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Monday. Burial: St. Jude's Catholic Cemetery, Thompson, ND, in the spring.
