Kaster Called by Death Mrs. Robert Kaster, highly respected resident of this vicinity, passed away at 5:45 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, August 13th, at her home about one and one-half miles southwest of Main Station. She was 73 years, 11 months and 10 days old. Mrs. Kaster was born at Harpers Ferry, VA, Sept. 3, 1861. She has been a resident of this vicinity for many years and is well known. She is survived by many relatives and friends. A complete obituary will be published at a later date. Funeral services will be held at Fairview Church near her home Thursday at 2 p.m. with burial in Fairview Cemetery. **** Obituary Mrs. Robert Kaster Florence Belle, only child of Nathaniel and Rachel (Tomlinson) McCloud was born in the state of Virginia, Sept. 3rd, 1861. In the fall of 1864 the family left their native state and came by wagon and teams to Iowa where they located on a farm in Taylor Township, Appanoose county in a tenant house on the Presly Sears farm three miles west of Moravia on the Iconium road. In this community she grew to womanhood and received her education in the rural schools nearby. She was of a cheerful disposition and was noted in her youth for her wit and humor. She was a lover of the outdoors and on horse back herded her father's cattle on the open prairie. On Jan. 25th, 1880 she was wedded to Robt. H. Kaster, also a resident of the same community. To this union were born five sons, four of whom with the husband and father were at her bedside when she peacefully passed to the great beyond Tuesday, August 13th, 1935 at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 21 days. For more than 40 years the family have made their home in their present location and Aunt Belle, as she was commonly called, was a familiar character to both young and old in the community. A call at her home and one scarcely left without a refreshing drink or a helping of cake. During her youth she was a regular attendant at old Antioch Christian Church and Sunday school. Due to the influence of a revival meeting held in the neighborhood about 85 years ago, she was converted in her own home through the reading of her Bible and was well versed in the Scriptures. Only a short time ago when asked by a relative of her preparedness and that of her husband for the future life her reply was that they were all right and that they were going down the shady side of life and expressed appreciation for the interest shown in their welfare. During her last illness she frequently remarked that she was ready to go and be relieved of her suffering. The family circle was broken by death on July 14, 1934 when their second child, Benjamin Franklin, was taken after a few days of intense suffering. This was a blow that no doubt hastened the mothers' death by her desire to grieve over his sudden passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, a half-brother and sister, Irl and Fannie McCloud and three grandchildren. Those left to mourn are the companion, Robt., and children, Winfield of Plano, Iowa, James and Grover of near the parental home and Averill of near Albia; a half-brother and sister, Ray McCloud and Alta Main of near Moravia and an only aunt, Mrs. Anna Burns of Albia, 28 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, other relatives, neighbors and friends. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Fairview Church, Rev. J. W. Zerbe officiating assisted by Rev. H. U. Smith of Harmon, Illinois. Rev. and Mrs. McClure of Exline sang.
