She was born April 25, 1920, near Clifton, the daughter of George and Ivy (Lacy) Caldwell. Growing to womanhood in the area, she attended local schools and graduated from Clay Center High School. Gingles Thursday, Aug 27, 2009 Florence C. Gingles, 89, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at the Village Manor in Abilene. She was born April 25, 1920, near Clifton, the daughter of George and Ivy (Lacy) Caldwell. Growing to womanhood in the area, she attended local schools and graduated from Clay Center High School. After high school she was a grocery clerk. On Nov. 24, 1943, she was married to Carl Gingles. For a couple years they farmed in the Clifton area until moving to Clay Center in 1945, then Enterprise in 1951 and lastly to Abilene in 1971 to make their home. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1995. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Frey of Abilene; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Gingles was cremated. Graveside inurnment services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, from the Greenwood Cemetery at Clay?Center. The family suggests memorials be made to the Hope House. They may be left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home, P.O. Box 758, Abilene, KS 6741
