Born in South Dakota, she moved to the Forestburg area in 1910 and there married Leonard Dabbs. A bomber pilot in the Battle of Britain, Howard was killed during that battle in 1942, and in 1943, Mrs. Dabbs was personally presented with his medals by the Earl of Athlone, then Governor-General of Canada. In 1940, Mrs. Dabbs moved to Daysland to live, then in 1946 moved to Camrose, where she has lived since. The latter few years she has been a resident of Bethany Home. Mrs. Dabbs was a quiet-living woman interested chiefly in her family, but with two major interests in addition. Over many years she was deeply devoted to the work of the church, especially in the field of foreign missions, and she was an expert with the crochet needle. Her crochet work was famous in the handiwork sections of both the Camrose and Edmonton fairs, and she has several times contributed to the handicraft sales at Bethany. In addition to her sons, she is survived by a sister, Miss Olive Brown, who retired in Minneapolis last year after working many years as a nurse. Miss Brown has been visiting with her sister for the past several weeks here.
