Description	:	Florence E. Turner (October 28, 1916 - February 10, 2009) Florence was born on October 28, 1916 in Clay Center KS, the daughter of Frank and Sylvia Kennedy. She had a brother, Frank Willis, and a sister, Mildred Ruth. She was raised on the family farm east of Clay Center and graduated from Clay Center High School in 1934. Turner (October 28, 1916 - February 10, 2009) Florence was born on October 28, 1916 in Clay Center KS, the daughter of Frank and Sylvia Kennedy. She had a brother, Frank Willis, and a sister, Mildred Ruth. She was raised on the family farm east of Clay Center and graduated from Clay Center High School in 1934. She worked as school teacher, teaching in both the Lower and the Upper Lincoln schools. In 1939, she married Kenneth Turner in Council Grove KS. Together they farmed on two different farms east of Clay and in 1944 moved to a farm in Linn. In 1945, Florence divorced Kenneth and returned to Clay Center to work for Southwestern Bell Corporation. While working for SwB, she was transferred to Salina, McPherson, and Topeka KS, and then to San Antonio in 1970. She vividly remembered being in the telephone building when the 1966 F-5 tornado devasted Topeka. In 1980, she retired after 33 years of service and moved to Goliad, TX to live with her daughter and family. In 1996, they moved to Victoria, Texas and she laughingly said she could remember living in 33 different houses in her lifetime. She died Feb 10, 2009. She left behind a daughter, a sister, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is remembered by everyone that knew her as a kind, selfless, and generous lady who loved history, genealogy, and was an excellent seamstress. She is sorely missed by all.
