Eileen was born in Fairfield, Iowa, on February 26, 1930, to Leslie W Harlan and Mildred A (Ranson) Harlan. Eileen's family lived in various towns in southeast Iowa, then moved to Corning, Iowa, and to Fontanelle, Iowa, where Eileen graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1948. Read More	Florence "Eileen" Brown passed away on April 29, 2014, at the Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston, Iowa, at the age of 84. Eileen was born in Fairfield, Iowa, on February 26, 1930, to Leslie W Harlan and Mildred A (Ranson) Harlan. Eileen's family lived in various towns in southeast Iowa, then moved to Corning, Iowa, and to Fontanelle, Iowa, where Eileen graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1948. After high school, she moved to Omaha to work for about a year, and then to Winterset, where she worked as a telephone operator. After moving back to the Fontanelle area, she was united in marriage with Donald "Dean" Brown on January 15, 1951. To this union, two children were born: L. Curtis and Patricia A. Brown. They lived on the family farm until July, 1983, when Eileen and Dean moved to Creston, Iowa. Prior to moving to Creston, Eileen and Dean farmed and operated a farm equipment and repair business in Bridgewater, Iowa, Brown Service and Supply, for several years. Eileen volunteered at the Creston Hospital and worked at Casey's General Store in Creston. Eileen loved being with her family. She was so happy when everyone one was there, especially, her grandson, Brian Brown. She especially loved Christmas; she was the biggest kid of them all. Eileen loved her garden and taking care of her lawn. Eileen loved shopping, and she was a collector of dolls, bears, dishware, teapots, tins, and loved the Beanie Babies. Eileen was a member of the Fontanelle United Methodist Church, and was very involved in the Fontanelle Chapter of the Eastern Stars. Eileen was preceded in death by Dean, her parents, four sisters-in-law, Janie Harlan, Mary Lou Mensing, Barb Brown, and Janet Stapleton and two brothers-in-law, Jay Staggs and Harry Stapleton. Eileen is survived by Curtis (Kim) of Johnston, Patricia (Carol) of Waukee, and Brian of Des Moines, great granddaughter, Hannah Bradley of Waco, Texas, her brother Mel Harlan of Gering, Nebraska, and sister, Joyce Staggs of Doniphan, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
