Born in Abbeville, SC, she was a daughter of the late John Lewis Sprouse, Sr. (2 Nov 1885 - 21 Dec 1959) and Maree Florence "Pet" (Wilson) Sprouse (13 Dec 1884 - 2 Aug 1925). She was also preceded in death by a son, Edward Douglas Guy, Jr. (26 Jun 1931 - 9 Feb 1990), a brother, John Lewis Sprouse, Jr., and her stepmother, Julia (McAllister) Sprouse. Mrs. Guy, a homemaker and devoted mother, was also a member of the Due West ARP Church. She will be missed by her loving family and her many friends. Survivors include a son, Dr. John Lewis Guy, Sr. and his wife Audrey of Honea Path, SC; a sister, Sara Ferguson of Greenwood, SC; grandchildren, Joe & Karen Guy of Atlanta, GA, Ann and David Looney of Greenville, SC, John & Ellen Guy, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, George Guy of Abbeville, SC, Harby and Sandy Williams of Abbeville, SC, Linda Guy and life partner Rita Hutcherson of Woodland, GA, Ed & Susie Guy of Abbeville, SC, Rocky Guy of Honea Path, SC, Christopher Guy of Honea Path, SC; fourteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. A graveside Celebration of Life was conducted Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Long Cane Cemetery in Abbeville, SC, with the Rev. Calvin Draffin officiating. The family received friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home prior to services. The family received friends after services at Mrs. Guy's home.
