Florence Irene Bommelman was born May 22, 1917, the daughter of Christian and Mary (Beck) Bommelman. Born in rural Barnes County, near Kathryn, she was one of 10 children. There were six boys and four girls. She grew up and attended school in the rural Kathryn area. From her marriage to Edward Beglau, she had a son, Douglas. He and his wife, Marcia, live in Cooperstown. She had two daughters and a son from her first marriage. Her daughters are Helen (Monroe) Teague, Hickory, N.C., and Beverly (Theodore) Nathan, Chester, S.C. Her son, Richard Berger, is deceased. She had eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; son, Richard; her parents; six brothers; and three sisters. Florence loved sewing, needlework, cooking, shopping, eating out and visits from family members. She was a restaurant cook for more than 30 years in the Tower City and Valley City areas. She lived many years with her husband, Edward, in Valley City. Her last four years were spent as a resident at Roseadele Basic Care in Jamestown. Roseadele staff became her "second family" in life. Florence's family wishes any memorials be sent to Roseadele Alzheimer Fund in her memory (Roseadele Basic Care; 1505 SE 3rd St.; Jamestown, ND 58401) or to another charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City.
