Description	:	Funeral services were held Tues, June 9, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell for Florence James Wiley, 85, of Grinnell, who died Fri, June 5, 1998, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines of a heart ailment. The Revs Dennis Smith of the Madison Church of Christ And Robert C Smith of the First Baptist Church of Knoxville, officiated. Music was by organist Jan Read and Milton Severe, vocalist. Casket bearers were Dale Griffith, David Keller, Roger Keller, Jeffrey Kellogg, Rod Weiss, Randy Williams, Roy Williams and Neal Paton. Florence was born Feb 25, 1913, at Montezuma, to Benjamin Harrison & Stella Fayer James. She was raised on the family farm and attended Montezuma schools. Following her education she worked as a rural mail carrier. On Nov 26, 1936, she was married to Lyle O Wiley at Montezuma. The couple farmed on various farms in Poweshiek Co, and in 1967, they moved to Grinnell. She was a member of the Madison Ch of Crist and later became a member of the Fist Baptist Ch of Grinnell. She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters, the Grinnell Senior Citizens and was past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene Johnston. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Marie Keller and Marlene Williams, both of Brooklyn, and Lois Kellogg of Leanwood, KS; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Rev Warren James of Montezuma; two sisters, Lois McLain of Montezuma and Erma Holcomb of Ft Collins, CO. Smith Funeral Home of Grinnell was in charge of arrangements. Memorials maybe directed to the Grinnell First Baptist Church or to the Madison Church of Christ. (Brooklyn Chronicle, Jun 10, 1998)
