Ashmore Bevan, 91, of the Golden Age Lodge, died at 6:40 p.m. Monday, June 25, 1979, at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. She was admitted to the hospital Monday morning. She was born Aug. 29, 1887, near Walnut, and lived in the Pittsburg-Weir-Opolis area all her life. She moved to the Golden Age Lodge from Opolis three years ago. She was first married to Henry Hunter Ashmore, who died in June 1948. She then married Harry Bevan. He died in November 1959. She belonged to the Weir Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Help One Another Club. Survivors include three daughters, Helen Bain, of Independence, Mo., Dorothy Buffington, of Route 1, and Jessie Melton, of Opolis; six sons, Reasel Ashmore, of Indianapolis, Ind., Harold Ashmore, of Cherryvale, Carval Ashmore, of Opolis, Raymond Ashmore, of Carthage, Mo., Merle Ashmore, of Sunland, Calif., and Arthur Ashmore, of Asbury, Mo.; a brother, Herman Goedeke, of McCune; two sisters, Tracy Hughes, of Route 4, and Tillie Cooper, of Hood River, Ore.; 39 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Hattie Jones, died in 1956, and a son, Floyd Ashmore, died in 1909. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bath Funeral Home, the Rev. Willis Bussart officiating.
