Description	:	Mother of Larry Dean Florence Mae Sassmann, 90, of Denver, Iowa, and formerly of Cedar Falls, passed away on April 25, 2018, at Unity Point Health Allen Hospital in Waterloo. Florence was born on October 2, 1927, near Frederika, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Irene (Homan) Buls. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Siegel. She attended country school at Douglas #5 and then attended high school in Frederika. Florence was united in marriage to Dean Buchholz on June 1, 1947, at St. Peter’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Tripoli.... Florence was born on October 2, 1927, near Frederika, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Irene (Homan) Buls. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Siegel. She attended country school at Douglas #5 and then attended high school in Frederika. Florence was united in marriage to Dean Buchholz on June 1, 1947, at St. Peter’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Tripoli. Together the couple farmed near Frederika on her original family farm. Dean passed away in October of 1975. She later was united in marriage to Mervin Sassmann on September 21, 1981, in Denver, Iowa. Florence is survived by her husband, Mervin Sassmann of Denver; her son, Larry Buchholz of Cedar Falls; two granddaughters, Brittany (Cameron) Argotsinger of Atlanta, Georgia and Heather (Jason) Graf of Wheaton, Illinois; three great grandchildren, Claire Argotsinger, Carson Graf and Aubrey Graf. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dean Buchholz, a daughter-in-law, Mary Buchholz, a brother, Arlon Buls and a sister-in-law, Malita Buls. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018, at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Denver with Rev. Susan Weier officiating. Burial will be held in Faith U.C.C. Cemetery, Tripoli. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver and also for one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver is assisting the family.
