Mrs. Nicewander died at 1:35 a.m. Sunday in Tioga Pines Living Center. Born Feb. 13, 1906, in Headlee, she was the daughter of Charles and Emma Roach Capper. On Nov. 5, 1930, she was married to Fred D. Nicewander, who died in February of 1960. Mrs. Nicewander retired in 1972 from Yeoman Telephone Company, where she had worked several years as a bookkeeper. She also had worked as a secretary at Prudential Insurance in Monticello, was Carroll County deputy recorder and served as clerk treasurer of Yeoman for more than 20 years. A 1925 graduate of Monticello High School, she was also a graduate of Indiana Business College in Indianapolis. She was a member of Yeoman United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Sunshine Class of the church. Mrs. Nicewander belonged to the Ace High Bridge Club and the Triple Decker Euchre Club, both in Yeoman, and was a former member of the Rose Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, in Delphi. Surviving are one daughter, Shirley Larson, Yeoman; one sister, Mary Keller, Jensen Beach, Fla.; one brother, Carl Capper, Monticello; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. One sister, four brothers and three sisters preceded in death. Officiating at the services will be the Rev. Bruce Mowery. Burial will be in Riverview IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Yeoman United Methodist Church.
