Her beloved husband, Joseph Benjamin Reese, was listed as the US Postmaster for Venton because he was a man, but he never worked at the post office, their granddaughter recalled. It was a man's world. "MaMa" was the only Postmaster in reality. They had 3 children: Juanita Evelyn Reese (m to Merryman), Joseph Barton Reese (died at age 1 of typhoid fever), and Arthur Gunby Reese (m to Garvin). |
