OBITUARY Florence Retta Westerdale, daughter of William and Lavinia (Lovina) Westerdale was born in Knox County, Ill., on July 8th, 1865, and departed this life at her home in Cincinnati, Iowa, October 6th, 1937, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 28 days. She came with her parents to Hilltown, Ia., at the age of three years. OBITUARY Florence Retta Westerdale, daughter of William and Lavinia (Lovina) Westerdale was born in Knox County, Ill., on July 8th, 1865, and departed this life at her home in Cincinnati, Iowa, October 6th, 1937, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 28 days. She came with her parents to Hilltown, Ia., at the age of three years. After a few years, the family moved to Western Kansas, later returning to Mendota, Mo., where she met and was united in marriage with Frank Scott on February 12, 1882, and to this union eleven children were born, one son and one daughter dying in infancy. Five sons and four daughters are left with her aged husband, to mourn the loss of a beloved Mother and wife. The sons are Jess, Fred and Clarence Scott of Cincinnati, Ia., Arthur Scott of Centerville, Ia., and Alva Scott of Unionville, Mo. The daughters are Mrs. Jennie Myers of Unionville, Mo., Mrs. Josie Coop of Newton, Iowa, Mrs. Lelah Arnaman of Centerville, Ia., and Mrs. Avis Freeborn of Cincinnati, Iowa. She is also survived by 24 grand-children and 22 great-grand-children. Also three brothers, Fred Westerdale of Cincinnati, Ia., Edd of Topeka, Kansas, and Jesse of Arkansas City, Arkansas (Kansas); and one sister, Mrs. Anna Luther of Denver, Colo., and a host of relatives and friends. She was kind and patient during her illness and sought to comfort her children who were all at her bedside when death came. She united with the Christian church when a young woman, to which faith she continued until death. She was a loving mother, a faithful wife. Besides being sadly missed in the home, she has a wide circle of friends throughout this community in which she has lived for the past fifty five years, and was always ready to lend a helping hand in times of need. Funeral services were held from the Christian church in Cincinnati, Iowa, Friday P.M., October 8th, at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Edwin Kropf, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church in Cincinnati, Ia., assisted by Evangelist, Mrs. Alat B. Clift, with Mrs. Clift and Miss Adele Newton singing "Garden of Prayer", "Sometime We'll Understand", and "Will the Circle Be Unbroken", accompanied by Mrs. Bonnie Staley.
