Description	:	Florence Thea (Moe) (Daetwiler) Marks was born in Ventura CA to Arnold and Gladys Moe on November 9, 1922. Mr. Moe was a member of an oil drilling team; therefore Florence grew up attending various schools on the West Coast finishing her education in Lynwood, CA. After WWII, she and her husband Lester “Bud” Daetwiler came to Fortuna. Florence cared for her family until they were adults. Then, on... Read More	Florence Thea (Moe) (Daetwiler) Marks was born in Ventura CA to Arnold and Gladys Moe on November 9, 1922. Mr. Moe was a member of an oil drilling team; therefore Florence grew up attending various schools on the West Coast finishing her education in Lynwood, CA. After WWII, she and her husband Lester “Bud” Daetwiler came to Fortuna. Bud was a carpenter and they built there first home on Kenmar Road where they raised a daughter and two sons, Susan, Thomas, and Jim. In 1962 Bud died after open-heart surgery. Florence cared for her family until they were adults. Then, on her mother’s birthday, April 6, 1966, she married Martin Marks. Florence was an active citizen having served 15 or more years on the Rohnerville School Board, was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church and W.E.L.C.A., and was a member and past leader in QUOTA Club. She wrote articles and news for the newspaper and other publications. She taught knitting and sewing and was active in making items to sell at fundraisers for St. Luke Manor. She painted in oil and watercolor, giving most of her work to friends and relatives. Florence began a history of Alzheimer’s in 1980 and by the year 2000 she needed full time care and in 2003 she became a resident of Especially You. Florence and Martin and their six children put claim to 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Her husband Martin of Eureka survives her as well as her six children, Susan Laloli of Weed, CA, Thomas Daetwiler of Fortuna, Jim Daetwiler of Scotia, Chris Marks of Walla Walla, WA, Kathy Martin of Boise, ID, and Skip Marks of Boise, ID. Her sister, Mary Goggin, also survives her. She is preceded in death by her mom and dad, Gladys and Arnold Moe, a younger brother, Jack Moe and a sister, Pat Kemp. Florence loved God, loved life, loved her family and loved her country. Memorial services will be Saturday July 9, 2005 at 1:00PM at Christ Lutheran Church, 2132 Smith Lane, Fortuna under the direction of Goble’s Fortuna Mortuary, Fortuna.
