Florence has been unable to converse with anyone for the past two years, but Florence and Jesus must be enjoying a meaningful conversation today in God's great heaven. Service will be held 11:30am Thursday April 5, 2012 at the Anamosa united Methodist Church. Pastor Laurie Riley will officiate at the service. Visitation will begin at 10:00am Thursday at the church. Florence is survived by her husband of 60 years Dick; her children Susie, Roy, Del, and Brad; grandchildren Alix, Krystina, Jennifer and Brianna; great-grandchild Molly; 3 brothers Richard, Clifford and James. She was preceded in death by her parents; 9 sisters and brothers Della, Jean, Mary, Bill, Bob, Harold, Jack, Lindi and Kenneth. Florence was born October 25, 1930 in Cedar County. She was the daughter of Lucian and Blanche McCausland Burgess. She was a 1949 graduate of Clarence High School. She attended two years of college at Evanston Collegiate Institute in Illinois and completed one year at Coe College in Cedar Rapids. Florence and Richard Brickley were united in marriage July 25, 1951 in Clarence, Iowa. Florence was very involved in volunteer work in several Methodist Churchs in Iowa and Colorado, and was active in Martha's Circle and JOY group in the Anamosa church. Florence worked as a teacher's aide several years in schools located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Grand Junction, Colorado. She will be remembered for her unselfish spirt and her dedication to her loving husband and family.
