The Osceola Sentinel, Osceola, Iowa November 08, 1934, Page 8 OBITUARY Flossie Jane Henry Flossie Jane Henry, daughter of Martha Jane and Douglas Marquis, was born February 22, 1895 near Jay, Clarke county, Iowa. She departed this life November 3, 1934 at her home near Medora, and was called to her heavenly home before any of her relatives could reach her. Flossie, being alone at the time or the attack telephoned for help. Her neighbors, Mrs. Carrie Moon, Mrs. Faye Foley, and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nine were at her bedside, and did all that human hands could do. The sad news reached her husband in Indianola, but before he reached her bedside she had passed away. She was united in marriage to Everett Henry, September 26, 1918. To this union was born a son, Kenneth Marquis, who died in infancy. At an early age Flossie united with the Bethel Chapel church and had always been an earnest worker in the various communities where she resided. Serving as secretary and treasurer of the Medora Aid a number of years She leaves to mourn their loss her devoted husband, three sisters Mrs. Mary Carson, Mrs. Samantha Davenport and Mrs Olive Henry. Two brothers, Willie and Oran. Also many other relatives and a host of friends An infant brother Virgil and her mother and father preceded her in death. During her short severe illness she was very patient, which causes us to say with the poet: "No time for a last farewell, No time for a shock of fear, Scarcely a moment's halt on the shore, with the guide and the boatman near. Dear, how surprised you were to go with little to suffer, little to know, Only a moment of dark, a dream of a fleeting night. And then a beautiful break of day. And the quiet piece of light. And you found yourself where you long to stand, In repose of the fatherland." The Orr Funeral Home of Indianola had charge of the funeral and services were held at the Bethel Chapel church, conducted by W. Frank Lister, a former pastor, who is now pastor of the Trinity Methodist church of Des Moines, and assisted by Rev. W. Reed Kessler of Medora. Interment was made in the Bethel Chapel cemetery beside her son.
