Born at Marriotts Cove, he was a son of the late Sawyer and Georgina (Richardson) Hiltz. He was a mechanic at the Lacey Gold Mines, Chester Basin and had served with the 10th Search Light in the Canadian Army from 1939-1945. Read More	Floyd Campbell Hiltz 1995 Halifax Herald Floyd Campbell Hiltz, 89, Chester Basin, died March 7, 1995, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born at Marriotts Cove, he was a son of the late Sawyer and Georgina (Richardson) Hiltz. He was a mechanic at the Lacey Gold Mines, Chester Basin and had served with the 10th Search Light in the Canadian Army from 1939-1945. He was a charter member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 88, Chester Basin. He was owner and operator of a garage in Chester Basin until retirement. He sang tenor with the New Ross / Chester Basin male choir and was a founding member of the First Boy Scout Movement in Chester Basin. He was a member of Chester United Baptist Church and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his wife, the former Minetta Corkum; daughters, Gwendolyn (Mrs. Michael Andrews), Nancy Fitch, Julia MacCluskey, all of Chester Basin; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Nita, Bertha, Ella (Nell); half-sister Belle; brothers, Wesley, Eston; half-brothers, Kenneth, Gordon. Visitation 7-9 p.m. tonight with a Legion service at 7 p.m. in Davis Funeral Home, Chester. Funeral 2 p.m. Friday in Chester United Baptist Church, Rev. Brian Keezer and Dr. Allen Gibson officiating. Burial in Lakeview Cemetery, Chester Basin. No flowers by request. Donations to Chester United Baptist Church or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
