Floyd Charles Baumgartner was born on November 23, 1929 at rural Strawberry Point, Iowa, the son of John August & Ina Mary (Fliehler) Baumgartner. He received his education at a rural Strawberry Point school and then farmed with his family and drove a produce truck. Floyd was a combat veteran of the Korean War, serving the in the U.S. Army for two years. He then continued his education at diesel mechanic school and worked in Waterloo as a diesel mechanic for two years. Floyd was united in marriage to Kay Diane Gamm on December 28, 1957 at St. John Lutheran Church at Arlington. The couple lived in Waterloo until they moved to their family farm southwest of Arlington in 1958 where they farmed and raised their family. Floyd was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council, the Arlington American Legion Dean Harkin Post #219 and was a Farm Bureau Member. Floyd was an elected official of the A.M.P.I. North Central Region in 1994 and was a member of the board of directors of the Arlington Coop Commission from 1979 to 1987. Floyd is survived by his Wife: Kay Baumgartner of Arlington; 6 Sons: Randy (Anne) Baumgartner of Omaha, Nebraska, Kent Baumgartner of St. Louis, Missouri, Craig (Pam) Baumgartner of Granger, Brad (LeAnn) Baumgartner of Arlington, Max Baumgartner of Maple Grove, Minnesota & Brian (Krista) Baumgartner of Kellogg; 15 Grandchildren: Andrew, Nora & Ethan (Randy), Kyle & Drew (Kent), Chase, Jacob & Tyler (Craig), Jordan, Christopher & Sidney (Brad), Luke & Logan (Max) and Bethany & Blake (Brian); 3 Step Great Grandchildren: Trey, Alec & Riley Kemmerer (Mark & Nora); Brother: Keith (Evelyn) Baumgartner of Strawberry Point; Sister: Sharyl (Wayne) Thurn of Edgewood; 2 Sisters-In-Law: Sharon Baumgartner of Strawberry Point & Alice Baumgartner of Waterloo and a Brother-In-Law: Larry (Eileen) Gamm of College Station, Texas. Floyd was preceded in death by his Parents, 3 Brothers: Robert (Rita), Daryl and Edward Baumgartner and a Sister: Doris (Lyle) Carnicle.
