He was to bring his mother back home later in the afternoon. When Cannon did not return, his father commenced to worry and as it became dusk, started out to look for him. The father first went to a daughter's home and asked his son-in-law, Ross A. Cole to help him locate the missing man. They found him about 100 yards from the house on the creek bank, about 7 o'clock. Nearby lay the shotgun. The charge had entered underneath part of the chin, causing death instantaneously. Lived With Parents – He is survived by his parents with whom he resided at their ranch home on Nord Avenue and Sandy Gulch; a sister, Mrs. Maude Cole and a half sister, Mrs. Grace Pearson, all of Chico. Cannon was a native of Hanford and had resided in Chico the past 25 years. He was a member of the Nazarene Church. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Westfall Funeral Home. There will be no inquest, West announced. ~~~ 37-year-old Floyd Dewey Cannon was interred, per the Chico Cemetery Association Records, in the plot noted, on December 19, 1935.
