Worked on ranches in the Cascade area at a young age. In 1925, began working at the Cascade Flour Mill. Worked on ranches in the Cascade area at a young age. In 1925, began working at the Cascade Flour Mill. In 1940, he went to Milwaukee to live with his sister and her family while he attended vocational school. Joined the Carpenter's Union, maintaining his membership for 36 years. During WWII, he went into defense work as a carpenter, first in an ordnance plant in Marion, Illinois and then a shipyard in Baltimore, Maryland. Returned to Cascade and worked as a carpenter. Married Caroline Bell in 1950. She died in 1973. In 1951 they moved to a 120-acre farm near Vaughn, where they started out with a dairy herd but changed to raising sheep and then cattle for market, as well as hay and grain. In slack times, Floyd worked as a carpenter, mostly in Great Falls. Retired a few year's after his wife died. He retained his farm but spent his last years living at the Eagles Manor in Great Falls. Preceded by his wife and an child who died at birth.
