Read More	Funeral services held Friday for 'Hap' Davis The community was deeply saddened last Tuesday (Nov. 9. 1976), at the untimely death of Floyd "Hap" Davis, 54, Akron, as results of injuries suffered Oct. 30 in a fall when a utility pole he was working on toppled. "Hap" best known to all his many friends, had been employed by the city of Akron for 27 years serving as superintendent of utilities until resigning in March 1976, forming a partnership with Floyd Wilcox in Floyds' Electric. His main interest was the Boy Scout program, and assisting those in need. He served as scoutmaster of Akron Boy Seoul troop 182 for over 20 years. During this time many young men received outstanding awards and excellent training under his guidance. He was very proud of the young men he worked with throughout the years in the scouting program. In an interview last February. Hap said "My most memorable moment was receiving the Silver Beaver award." This award is given for outstanding community service, and is the highest award a scoutmaster can achieve. Not only did he show interest in the young people, there were many elderly people that he gave assistance throughout the years. He was a kind man and gave generously of himself, never accepting praise. He will be greatly missed by his family and all of his many friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12 in Wesley United Methodist church, Akron. The Rev. Dr. Howard Marty officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery under the direction of Schroeder funeral home. Hoschler post 186, American Legion conducted graveside services. Pallbearers were Floyd Wilcox, Arden Brown, Arden Boetger, Floyd Lennon, Armand Brown and Steve Snow. Floyd "Hap" Davis was born- November 7, 1922, in Grand Junction, Iowa. He married Phyllis Trotter Nov. 9, 1943. at Grand Junction. He had been employed by the Grand Junction power plant three years before moving to Akron in 1949. Mr. Davis was a member of Hoschler American Legion post, 186, Wesley United Methodist church, Akron volunteer fire department, the Plymouth county extension board, and served on the Prairie Gold Boy-scout council. Survivors include his widow, Phyllis; a son Richard of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three daughters, Mrs. Terry (Judy) Doyle of Omaha, Mrs. Michael (Kathy) Basque of Stockton, Calif., and Miss Nancy Davis of Sioux Falls; one granddaughter, Nikki Doyle of Omaha, and one grandson, Hayes Levi Davis, Sioux Falls; his mother, Mrs. Faye Davis; a brother, Dale; and a sister, Mrs. Dean (Doris) Hoskinson, all of Grand Junction, Iowa.
