Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Locust with Rev. John Mayer officiating. Floyd Julian Seegmiller was born on June 26, 1914 the son of Will and Louise (Spilde) Seegmiller in Decorah, Iowa. Floyd graduated from Decorah High in 1933, and also attended Decorah Business College in 1936. He worked for NeHi Bottling for a short time and then started the Seegmiller Construction Company, a lime and material company, which he operated for forty-five years in Iowa and Minnesota. Floyd also served in World War II in the US Army in the 342 Station Complement Squadron. Floyd married Gertrude Malli on July 22, 1955 at the Methodist Church in Caledonia, MN. Floyd retired in 1994 and moved to Rochester, MN in 2000 to be near family. He loved to work and drive truck. He also loved to go for walks in the woods and pick up hazel nuts and to spend time with his grandchildren and to give them pony rides. Floyd was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Locust and the Helof – Holm VFW Post #1977. Floyd's survivors include his wife, Gertrude Seegmiller, Rochester, MN. Two daughters: Linda Seegmiller, Rochester, MN and Martha Carlson, New Brighton, MN. One son: Gary Seegmiller & wife Jane, Rochester, MN. Five grandchildren: Nicole McNallan & husband Nick, Jesse Seegmiller & wife Courtney, Joshua Carlsen, Jenna Seegmiller and Kari Seegmiller. One brother: Horace Seegmiller & wife Dorothy, Decorah, IA. One sister-in-law: Evelyn Seegmiller, Harmony, MN and many nieces and nephews. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Telford Seegmiller and Jesse Seegmiller and one sister: Evelyn Sampson. Schluter - Balik Funeral Home
